Traveling to SE Alaska

Travel Options

From Seattle you can reach Ketchikan in less than 2 hours by jet, or in about 36 hours by ferry through the "Inside Passage". This is a cruise you will remember for a lifetime. The scenery along this picturesque route will take your breath away-especially if the weather cooperates. By boarding a float plane in Ketchikan you can reach Craig in about 30 minutes.

Due to time constraints and convenience, travel to Prince of Wales Island is usually by air. Alaska Air is the only commercial carrier between Seattle and Ketchikan. From Ketchikan to Craig you will travel on DeHaviland Beaver and Twin Otter float planes for the 40 minute flight. Float planes provide service to allocations on the island. Klawock, 7 miles north of Craig, is the site of the only airport on the island. We will be glad to assist you with your travel questions if you have some.

If time allows, and sometimes if weather dictates, travel on the Alaska Marine Highway System (ferry) is an unrivaled adventure. The ferry ride from Seattle (ferry terminal is at Bellingham) to Ketchikan is a 36 hour cruise up the Inside Passage. The trip from Ketchikan to Hollis, site of the ferry terminal located on the east side of the island, takes 2 hours and 45 minutes. It's then a 45 minute drive across the island to Craig. When you arrive, we'll be waiting to assist you with your accommodations, and begin preparation for your fishing adventure!
